Music Tuition

I tutor saxophonists, clarinetists and flautists of all ages, covering all styles and abilities.  I teach at The Canterbury Academy and Your Music School in Canterbury, All Sorts of Music in Ash (near Sandwich), Highworth Grammar School For Girls in Ashford and Sutton Valence School near Maidstone.  I am also proud to direct and write for three student bands as well as leading group improvisation workshops and taking one-off sessions with GCSE and A level students.  I also offer online lessons worldwide.

I'm pleased to say that my teaching schedule is usually fairly full, but if you are interested in studying with me then please get in touch and I'll try to squeeze you in as soon as I can!

Writing & Arranging

With a huge amount of experience writing and arranging educational music for individuals as well as small, medium and large student ensembles, I am excited to be in the process of finishing a range of tuition books for saxophone, clarinet and flute, as well as an advanced exercise book for melodic jazz and pop instrumentalists.  I plan to release these under my own educational brand "Make Music Make Sense", although there has been preliminary interest from other recognised publishers as well.  Watch this space!

I am open to commissions so please get in touch if you have a project in mind or would like more information.

Online Tuition During COVID-19

As of Saturday 21st March I will be moving all of my teaching online.  Not all tutors have decided to offer this service and so I'm more than happy to extend this opportunity to other students if necessary.  It's not my intention to steal anybody else's work, however if you have been left without lessons due to the current situation then please get in touch and I'll happily liaise with your usual teacher to help move you forwards towards your next targets, and generally keep you occupied!  It's quite possible that we'll all need plenty of things to do over the weeks ahead!

Please also take a look at my musical hygiene page for advice on how to look after your instrument and your health!
